Greetings Chaps,
I'm a new member (my first post), a Shropshire lad born and bred but I now live in the US.
My initial motivation for joining was in regards some research into revolvers manufactured by the Birmingham based company of Tipping & Lawden (bought out by P. Webley in 1877). I have just acquired a lovely example in .450 Adams calibre. As there is no 'handgun' section on the forum (such being rather heavily restricted in Britain) and as this revolver is pre 1877, the the black-powder section seems the most appropriate place.
If anyone has any information regarding revolver production by this company, I would be interested to hear details.

You will have found quite a bit of info on the firm under the name Thomas Tipping. You will find more if you put the name Tipping into the text box (leaving all the other boxes blank).

Thank you for that. I had perused the information but that last piece of advice was really key as it has bought up a great deal more, so plenty to keep me busy.
If anyone does happen to come across other details, especially period information/adverts in books magazines etc, I would be most appreciative of it being passed along.
When I research such topics I much prefer to get hold of the original printed items wherever possible; books, catalogues, magazines, papers etc. On that note I do have a 'copy' of a circa 1871 advertisement for the Thomas Patent revolver (made by Tipping & Lawden), this was in 'The Bazaar Exchange & Mart' and would like to find an original copy. A long-shot I know but worth mentioning.
