Rigby .450 Express Double Rifle

Post by James M. Warren 374 » Thu Jul 18, 2019 4:58 am

I am looking for more possible provenience on my Rigby Best Quality .450 3-1/4 Express double rifle.
As you can see from the Rigby certificate it was finished and sold in 1872 to a “Capt. Goff”.

My search has uncovered a Capt W.G.D Goff 1838-1917 of Glenville and Waterford, Ireland that fits the expected time frame and shooting interests.

Who amongst the members has an opinion as to whether this gentleman might be the “Capt Goff” that bought this rifle new from Rigby?
I am not any kind if expert at genealogy or family names for Britain and Ireland so I am reaching out to see if anyone has a better thought as to who Capt Goff may be.
Best Regards, J.M.Warren
