I recently purchased a Pinfire double rifle by Williams and Powell. It is advertised as a 28 gauge pinfire. Bores and rifling are excellent. Does anyone know about this cartridge or know of a source of information ? I don't have it in hand, yet, so cannot take measurements at this time. Thank you, Daryl Hallquist
We have all of Harding's books. The Eley Bros book has little info on pin-fire rifle cartridges except that they produced them from 1862. No powder loadings or bullet sizes or shapes given. 28 bore is roughly .543" to .556" - not much use to you but interesting to know!
John, thank you. When I actually get my hands on the gun, the chambers, and bores will help. I do hope the loading tools with the rifle give us the information needed to shoot the rifle . I'll try to add more when that time comes.
Does anyone have any information or sources for the 28 ga. pinfire rifle cartridge. I have recently seen double rifles with this boring in Smith, Atkin, and Williams and Powell. I am guessing it is a rimmed pinfire case , 28 gauge case, about 2 1/2" long. Bore size about .587".
