Post by Brett Adams 938 »

Hello all. I have been forwarded to your wonderful Web Page Re my recent purchase of a Adams & Co SxS Sidelock 12 Gauge it i assume was one of their later guns Serial No 13808 though the shield may have been replaced the initials on that are R.D.I
Any information that can be forwarded would be much appreciated.
ps also carries the 1886 patent 10679.and London proof marks for 1887-1896 I have been informed.

Sorry John 39 sent you a pm I have no address for the weapon if that is what you are asking
I can only assume from the history given on this page that as they have used Thomas Perkes patent it is after 1895 and could be either 15 Swallow Street or 22 Denmark street this is the information I am asking for assistance with.as the Stamps allude to 1896 I assume it can only be Swallow Street.

I think 1896 is correct. The serial numbers we have are derived from the proof marks so are not specific.
