Tolley
I picked up a 4 bore Tolley today . Has anybody kept the firms records over the years?
Re: Tolley
This firm were known for their big bore guns. All the records were lost because of bombing by the Germans in World War II, but we do have some serial numbers and dates.

Re: Tolley
here are the proofs I think they are Birmingham 1875-1887 . and serial number 5458 John do you know of a list of serial numbers thanks
Re: Tolley
The records we have are poor, they say this serial number dates to 1875 to 1887, so they were obviously derived from the proof marks on guns rather than any of the firms actual records - which don't seem to exist. Well done for dating the proof marks! The barrel is choked so don't use solid ball or Nitro powder. Get your wife to fire the first shot. I'm a little surprised to see the barrel is laminated steel.
