Re: Capegun

A cape gun is a long side-by-side double-barreled firearm, where one barrel is rifled and the other one is smooth. The user can use the rifled barrel to fire long range accurate shots against large game and use the smooth barrel to shoot shotgun shells at smaller animals. The gun has two triggers an...

Re: Capegun

John: The Cape gun is a pre war gun in the obsolete 9.3X72 rimmed cartridge and 16 bore. I could not figure out how to flip the image, sorry. Made in Suhl probably by Franz Jager. We shoot at a moving Lion target and turn to shoot a crossing clay. It’s a lot of fun. The Vintagers is a group of SXS en...

Re: To close a shotgun

I agree with John. Keep the shotgun barrels in a safe direction close the gun in a smooth and steady motion. This allows the bolting system to snap into place. Any shotgun safe for shooting will be designed to be closed this way. Easing the toplever is not required and raising the stock end seems ov...

Re: Fitting new barrels project

John I did not have the barrels made. That would have been extremely expensive. What I did was find an old lower grade gun with a set of barrels that I could strike to the action I had. This is difficult to do as every action is a little different. Finding a useable set is a lucky find Converting th...

Fitting new barrels project

I have fitted a 32 inch set of barrels to a live bird gun I use to shoot sporting clays with. Here in the states it is difficult to get a set of barrels that are suitable to fit and strike to match an action. I just got it back from the engraver. I will shoot it a bit to make sure everything is in g...

Re: 8 bore paper shells.

I may have been mistaken about reloading these red paper cases. Since the red cases use the two piece sure-fire primer I cannot source any here. The only cases that will work are buff colored and they will accept a 209 primer. I will keep looking :D
