Re: British proof marks and what they mean

Hi Trutta, The crown over BV mark is the View mark - incomplete guns viewed to check no faults prior to further work. The crown over BP mark is the definitive proof mark for a completed gun, and the crown over NP mark and words Nitro Proof tell you that the gun has passed nitro proof. The crossed sw...

Re: Holts Auctions

Regrettably, I did not make the sale, been suffering loss of balance (Benign Paroxismal something - or other) for the last 3 weeks. Keep falling over and extreme nausea! First sale I've missed in about 20 years.

This was a huge amount of money in those days considering the average Westley Richards boxlock cost £30-£40. He had his own i...

Re: Benjamin Norman

Hi Keith, I have found St. Lawrence’s reference to Benjamin Norman. Unfortunately, he has not rejoined on our new website. When we lost the old website we retrieved the old forums but lost all the links in them and access to the membership records, so I have no way of finding his details and email a...

Benjamin Norman

I would like to contact a member with the name St. Lawrence. He put a number of posts on the old archived forum on Oct 18, 2007 concerning a query concerning a Benjamin Norman hammer gun. The gun was marked with #2, indicating a paired piece. I presently own a #2 Benjamin Norman and would like to in...

I can remove the primers no trouble and no charge, but can you replace them with the right type?

Re: 8 bore paper shells.

That is a very big gun. They do come on the market from time to time, I'll look out for some. Holts have a sale next month but no 8 bore cases. I'll check elsewhere.

Re: Big Game in India

As I have very little to do and no real purpose in life, I bought three books to read but have abandoned them in favour of re-reading "The Lonely Tiger" less than a week later! I can tell you it is as exciting on the second read as it was on the first! I don't know the exact location of th...
