Re: Adams & Co

I think 1896 is correct. The serial numbers we have are derived from the proof marks so are not specific.

Re: Benjamin Wild barrels

Colin Wild took over the business in 1964 and moved the firm to 55-56 Price Street, they then moved to Unit F/F1 New Buildings, 63 Price Street, Birmingham B4 6JZ. I am sure they closed soon after but I have a telephone number 0121 3592303. Someone trading at New Buildings may be able to help you.

This firm were known for their big bore guns. All the records were lost because of bombing by the Germans in World War II, but we do have some serial numbers and dates.

Re: "Dating,"Charles Boswell d

Serial numbers below the 13000 range are not reliable. The address is important. from 1872 to 1890 the numbers go from 1500 to 9000. From 1883 to 1922 they go from 11000 to 12000 the address being 126 Strand.

Hi Chris, We haven't had an email with photos but comment as follows: We normally only answer queries from members who have paid the weekly or annual membership fee. However, we can tell you that the serial number is much too high for a Greener or any English trade maker. You say the name Molden is ...

Greener ? Query posted by Moderator

Gun history as known The gun was bought in Australia in 1968 by an uncle of the present owner. He then sold it to his brother in Cyprus in 1978 for 880 CY pounds. The owner now is the nephew of the original seller, he believes the make of the gun is a Greaney as he spelt it but he may mean "GRE...

Hi Danny,

You really need to pay the membership fee so that you can look at the
histories of both firms in our database.
