Wrights supplied many retailers but they were a small firm and it seems to me that it has become fashionable to name them but unlikely that they were the makers. They could not have made more than a few hundred guns but those they did make were of very good quality.

Can't be of much help. The first record book starts with 7420 in 1894 which indicates your gun dates to 1892/3.

About 10,000 Cogswell & Harrison serial numbers between 1906 and 1907 have been lost, but 1906 started with 29892, 1907 starts with 41550 so your guns can be dated to 1906.

The Cross family were active well into the 1900s. You need to look at the history of Joseph Wheeler Cross of Price street. Thomas Cross had a son named Henry / Harry (b.1873) who may be the person you are looking for. I've yet to get around to checking the 1921 census.

Hi Barry, The only serial number records relate to Norfolk. No numbers are recorded for Derby, so we can't help at all other than to say that the boxlock shotgun was probably made by Charles Rosson and the Rook & Rabbit rifle was made by the Birmingham trade.
