Re: Charles Osborne shotgun

The firm moved to 10 York Buildings in 1908 so I think your gun, the lowest 63,000 number known, dates to 1908-1910.

Re: New Book: Gun Makers of birmingham 1660/1960

We bought a copy at the exorbitant price of £37.00 - for a 250 page paperback! The first half bored us with unimportant detail about BSA, the second half is 99% a repeat of English Gunmakers by Bailey & Nie - nothing important there!

Re: Bother, the brat is back again....

The gun dates to about 1900, can't be more accurate than that. Looks cheap enough for the Colonies!

Pistols:WB215 &WB216 posted by moderator

I am wondering if anyone could help with research I am trying to do regarding a pair of pistols with WB 215 and WB 216 on the barrels.
I understand the may have been registered in Waterford, Ireland but can find no more information.
best regards

Re: Assistance needed in one of your x colonies again....

Hi Vernon, I have a number of old guns and use almost any 67mm cartridges in them. I used to be a rifle shooter and re-loaded for that (boring!) but I've never re-loaded for shotgun - too much bother! If any fired cartridge case has bits missing off the end the cartridge case is too long. I can't gi...

Re: Revealing the pattern of Damascus barrels

Have a look in our "Archived Forum" for "browning" or "Damascus". A chap named "Wabbitbosher" is an expert on this. Basically, you should rub down the areas to be browned with very fine steel wool then look on the internet for suppliers of browning solutions. ...

Re: New Kid on the Block....

Hi Vernon,

Yup, 1931. The records we have show 4425 was the lowest number in 1931, and 1932 started with 4708. Not entirely satisfactory but cheap at the price !

I was a remittance man in South Africa in my youth. Only got £500 in 11 years, so had to come home to get more.

We are all nice chaps!
