Re: Midland date

Hi Sam,

Most of the Midland records are derived from the proof marks so almost all of them are dated 1904 to 1925, which is pretty useless, but you are lucky. We can date this gun to 1896

Re: J H Crane

Hi Poz,

We do have all his historical details, on him and your gun. Register and pay and you can see them. Unfortunately no serial number records exist.

Re: Anson and Deeley

Hi Vernon, This is definitely not the gun's serial number, you must look elsewere for that. This is probably a provisional patent number for a patent that was never actually registered.

Re: WW Greener

Hi Rob, The serial number indicates with certainty that the gun was made in 1907. Its specification says it was a TWF / FP / FE. this means is was made with a Triple Wedge Fast action, the action is a Facile Princeps and it has a Fore End Ejector. The sling indicates that it was not made as an Engli...

Re: Thomas Stensby records

Hi David, We were told 20 years ago some of the records survive and can be had by writing to Stensby at 1 Shudehill, Manchester MS 2AF, Tel/Fax 0618346589. This may not still be true. No records of guns prior to 1890 exist, and from 1890 all serial numbers had a prefix such as B, C, H, K, M, N and O...

We cannot be 100% sure but think this dates to 1908.

Re: Westley Richards

Hi Karl, The first thing is that the name of the manufacturer of your gun is Westley Richards not Westly Richards. The second thing is that the name of the company who sold the gun was Vavasseur Levetus Export Limited not Levetus Limited. The wrong name is the first reason why you have not been able...
