Hollis & Sheath: Email from Bill

Is there anyone who can help me? My uncle has a Hollis and Sheath Muzzleloader and would like to know more about it. He just wants to know when it might of been made and if anyone has any idea of the history and cost of it.

You've sent us two photos of the engraved rib on this rifle. The style of engraving is Continental (Germanic / Swiss), which is appropriate for the time (probably about 1800-1820) and it tells us that the gun was made for export to the USA. Quite obviously, is was not one of their cheaper models, the cost was probably about £5, at auction in London today it would be worth somewhere in the region of £1000-£2000. Unfortunately, the pics don't tell us any more, but no doubt you've printed-off the history of Hollis & Sheath to show your Uncle.
