Registering

You must Register as a member if you want to post messages on this bulletin board. Membership is free.
Although you are required to give your real name and email address, you will be identified on the Bulletin board by your nickname. Your real name will not be displayed anywhere on the site.
You have the option of allowing others to see your email address
by selecting the 'Allow other users to view my email address' checkbox on the change preferences form.
You can register by clicking on the Members Log-on button on the left hand side of the screen.

Smilies
|
You've probably seen others use smilies before in email messages or other
bulletin board posts. Smilies are keyboard characters
used to convey an emotion, such as a smile
:)
or a frown
:(.
This bulletin board
automatically converts certain smilies to a graphical
representation. For example, if you type
:D
in your BB post, it will automatically be converted to
 - a big grin. The
following smilies are currently supported:

Using HTML and/or BB
Code

You may be able to use HTML and/or BB Code in your posts, if your
administrators and moderators have those options turned
on.
Every time you
post a new note, you will be told whether BB Code and/or
HTML is enabled. If HTML is on,
you may use any HTML tags, but please be very careful
that you proper HTML syntax. If you do not, your
moderator or administrator may have to edit your post.
BB Code is similar to HTML, but offers just a few basic
functions, such as hyperlinking, image display, bolding
and italicizing. A complete list of current BB Codes is
shown here.

Moderators
|
|
Moderators control individual
forums. They can edit, delete, or prune any posts in their forums.
If you have a question about a particular forum, you should direct
it to the forum moderator.
Administrators and forum moderators reserve the right to close or delete any post that does not provide
a clear and purposeful topic.
Anyone who posts just to increase their www.internetgunclub.co.uk Forums stats or post topics out of
boredom risk having there topics closed, removed and/or membership reconsidered.
Try to make the topic wording mirror what is inside the thread. Topics titles like "Check this out!" and
"You have to see this!" serve no purpose other than to annoy and will jeopardise your continuing membership.

Not Logged-on / Can't Connect / The Cookie Problem |
This bulletin board uses cookies to store the following information:
your nickname, your membership number, your authority to post, a unique session ID number when you log-on, the last time you visited the forums. These cookies are stored on your browser.
If your browser does not support cookies,
or you have not enabled cookies on your browser, none of
these necessary features will work. If you can't log-on or are told you are not logged-on when you try to access the bulletin board, then almost certainly the problem is your privacy settings. Please check these and make sure your browser is set to accept cookies. Some ISPs (e.g. AOL) use proxy servers which don't always co-operate with cookies. Go to settings - essentials - internet options - privacy ... and drag the bar to the bottom to where it says "Accept all cookies". For some reason, some PCs still don't work, if this is the case go to tools - internet options - privacy - edit (at the bottom) - add internetgunclub.com and press "Allow", then "OK". You might also try checking "Remember me", or try updating to the latest version of your browser. Beyond giving you this advice, we can't help you. All you can do is contact your ISP Helpdesk or your PC supplier.

Editing Your Posts
|
You may edit your own posts at any time. Just go to the thread where
the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit
icon on the line under your message.
Click on this icon and edit the post. No one else can
edit your post, except for the forum moderator or the
bulletin board administrator.

Adding Signatures
|
|
You may use a signature on your posts.
When you register, or when you log-on,
you will be able to edit your profile, including your standard signature. Once you have
a signature stored, you can choose to include it any post
you make by checking the "include signature"
box when you create your post. However, the Bulletin Board administrator may elect to turn the signature feature off at any time.
If that is the case, the "include signature" option will not appear when you post a
note, even if you have stored a signature. You may change your signature at any time by editing your profile details.
Note: You may use HTML or BB Code if the admin has
set this option to on.

Attaching Files and Images
|
|
For security reasons, you may not attach files to any posts. You may
cut and paste text into your post, however, or use HTML
and/or BB Code (if enabled) to provide hyperlinks to
outside documents. For an explanation about using BB Code, open a new topic or press the "REPLY" button
(as appropriate) and go down to "OPTIONS", click on the "BBCode" link. You may use HTML to link to images
you have stored on imagehosting and online photo albums such as photobucket.com (which is free and
which we recommend). You just copy the URL (IMG) they give you for the image and paste it into your post.
Detailed instructions are as follows (you may like to highlight this text and print it):
Pictures ("images" - in techno-speak!) taken with a digital camera, or scanned photos, can be uploaded
into our forums. The first thing you need to do is size the image, using any photo programme
you like, possibly the one that came with your camera, possibly "PaintShop
Pro" or some other programme. Open that, and then open the image you want to
re-size (the file this is in could be named "Master Images"). Re-sizing is
not difficult, just find something like a "Re-size" button on the toolbar,
or the word "Re-size" in one of the drop-down menus on the toolbar, and
follow the instructions. You need to re-size your picture to 72 pixels per
inch (computer monitors won't show a higher resolution so there is no point
in using one). Then re-size the width to 650 pixels (length doesn't matter).
The width should not be more than 700 because if it is, users will have to
scroll across the page and that is annoying. After re-sizing, save a copy
of the picture in a new file ("Web Images"). Don't close the picture or the
photo programme if you think you will need them again.
Now, you have to copy the picture to an image-hosting website or on-line
photo album such as photobucket.com (which is free and which we recommend).
Presumably, your email programme is open (so you can print this guide if you
want to), now open Internet Explorer (or other browser) as well and go to
the appropriate topic at www.internetgunclub.com . Open your browser again
(Yup! You can have it open twice, we always do!) and, using that one, go to
www.photobucket.com . [NOTE: Instead of opening your browser twice, if you
have the latest version you may be able to open another tab; we don't like
the latest version of the browser we use, but its a personal choice!]
Register with photobucket. When you've done this, find the "Browse" button
on the next page that comes up, and click on it. This takes you to your
computer where you have to find the file where you saved the web copy of the
picture. When you double click on the name of the picture it will be loaded
into your photobucket album. When the picture is loaded you just scroll down
to it and left click on the "IMG" script underneath it to highlight it, then
right click on it and copy the IMG address. Click on the first browser you
opened where you've got the "New Topic" or "Reply" page showing, and right
click to paste the picture address into your note. Add any text you want
above and/or below the image address, and press "Submit". On the next page,
press "Click Here to View your Topic" and watch your picture appear in the
topic. Magic!!

Searching For Specific Posts
|
You may search for specific posts based on a word or words found in the
posts, user name, date, and particular forum(s). Just
click on the "search" link at the top of most
pages.

Lost User Name and/or Password
|
Your User Name is the email address you gave when first registering. Your password is encrypted when you first register and subsequently every time you log-on. Even we can't read it. If you forget your password you should email Internet Gun Club using the feedback form so that we can delete your registration. You then have to re-register using the same or another email address and a new password.

Email Notification
|
If you create a new topic, you have the option of receiving an email
notification every time someone posts a reply. Just check the email notification box on the
"New Topic" forum when you create your new
topic.

Can I search private forums?
|
Yes, but you cannot read any of the posts unless you have the password to the private forum.

Why are some post icons
flaming
in the forum view?
|
Flaming icons signify that there are 20 or more posts in that
thread. It is a warning to slower connections that the
thread may take time to load. If an icon is flaming and you want to see the second page, just click on the second page link at the bottom right corner of the first page.
