Do I have to disclose my physical address?
|
One of the reasons we ask for addresses is to help protect members from credit card fraud; if your address doesn't exactly match that held by your credit card company, our payment service providers (WorldPay) will not process the transaction. If you are a Private Member, be assured your personal information is secure and confidential between you and us, it cannot be published on this site and will not be published via us anywhere else. We would disclose an address only to an appropriate authority only in the event of a criminal investigation - and after taking legal advice! If you are a Club, Organisation or Trade Member your street address, town / city, telephone number, map location etc is published only if you choose to publish it.

Where is my PIN number?
|
PIN numbers are automatically generated and immediately sent via your ISP to the email address you gave. Please make sure you have not accidentally deleted you PIN email. If you do not receive a PIN within about 10 minutes the problem will be a delay due to your ISP delaying emails, or an incorrect email address. We can manually re-send PINs, send an email to admin@internetgunclub.com simply putting 'PIN not received' in the subject line.

Can you tell me my password?
|
When you registered, and every time you log-on to the IGC site, the
characters in your password are automatically encrypted. No record of the un-encrypted password is kept. This means that every time you log-on, the
newly encrypted characters of your password are matched with the recorded
encrypted characters (and your email address). Nobody, not even our
administrators and web designers, can tell you your original password. When you go to the Log-on page, under the "Log-on" button you will see the words "If you have forgotten your password, please Click Here".

I can't log-on / The Bulletin Board tells me I'm not logged-on!
|
Our site uses cookies in order to give access to "Members only" parts of the
site (History Database, Advertising and Bulletin Board). Cookies store
information (such as your membership number, a unique session ID number,
authority to access, nickname, date last visited the Bulletin Board etc). These cookies are stored on your browser. If your browser does not support cookies, or you have not enabled cookies on your browser, these necessary features will not work. Almost certainly, the problem is your privacy settings. Please check these and make sure your browser is set to accept cookies. Some ISP issued browsers (e.g. AOL but also some others) have their security settings set high to protect children, that is all very well but it doesn't help you! Go to settings -> essentials -> internet options -> privacy ... drag the bar to bottom to where it says accept all cookies. For some reason, some PCs still won't work, if this is the case, go to tools -> internet options -> privacy -> edit (at the bottom) -> add
internetgunclub.com and press "Allow", then "OK". You also might try deleting cookies and try checking "Remember Me", or try
updating to the latest version of your browser. Beyond giving you this advice, we can't help you. All you can do is contact your ISP Helpdesk or your PC supplier.

My post has been deleted from the Bulletin Board - Why?
|
We have to keep an eye on what people say, and we do delete inappropriate posts or words. We also know that you want quality forums with interesting and informative content. Forums with hundreds or thousands of posts are like Hit Counters, they may mislead you into thinking you are looking at a popular site, but much of it may be waffle! Most of our topics do not have a sell-by date, but we do delete them if they seem to have limited interest.

Searching Historical Database does not find the maker and other information that I want!
|
You may have specified an Area / City / Town but the maker may originally have been in business elsewhere, try being less specific. Remember that most firms are recorded under the founder’s LastName. You may have used the wrong LastName or the wrong input box. Bear in mind that searches are done on a simple string of letters and spaces. Don’t be too specific, try entering just a LastName in the name box, or enter a few distinctive letters and spaces in the Text Box, even something as obscure as ‘vy st’ will bring up Army & NaVY STores.

Searching for A B C, or A. B. C. or A and B and C does not work!
|
Note that in all the business names on the site the word "and" is recorded as "&", and initials only have spaces between them if they represent FirstNames (for example, "A B Cab & Son" would have a space between the initials, but no full stops but "ABC Company Ltd" would not be recorded with spaces or full stops.

Can’t find a Club / Organisation / currently trading Company?
|
Maybe it is not in any of the databases – if so, please let us know, but first try searching in another category.
To speed-up searches and limit unwanted results we’ve split entries into what appear to us to be common sense categories:
- ‘Gun Suppliers’ means gun shops and gun makers, but we all know they sell accessories;
- ‘Products & Services’ means makers and suppliers of products and services that are not actually guns or to do with gunmaking or gunsmithing; this category should include accessory makers and suppliers such as optics suppliers, cartridge manufacturers and re-stocking services, or obvious accessory suppliers such as clothing, leathergoods or dog bed makers / suppliers.
- ‘Clubs’ – generally speaking, this category covers clubs individuals can join.
- ‘Organisations’ generally speaking, this covers organizing / administrative bodies that individuals can’t join but a few, e.g. Clay Pigeon Shooting Association, do take individual members for score recording purposes or British Association for Shooting & Conservation for provision of various member benefits.

How much does it cost to place a private classified advert?
|
Only registered members can advertise, it costs £2.54 (plus £0.45 VAT = £2.99 if you are unfortunate enough to be resident in the European Union)! It is your responsibility to remove the advert when you no longer wish to advertise or the item you are selling is sold.

Why not show a counter on your site?
|
Websites that quote a number of "Hits" more or less deliberately set out to mislead the unwary! About 90% of hits are from search engines and surfers. This is why most quality sites do not have hit counters! However, as you have asked: We usually register about 500,000 hits every month and about 15,000 "Sessions". Let us explain those figures: A hit is simply a successful request to a web server from a visitor's browser for any type of file on a website, whether an image, HTML page, or any other type of file. If a page has links, each link will count as a hit. Obviously, hits are a fairly useless measure of activity on a site, but many sites boast about the number hits they get because the figures are large and they give the impression that the site is more popular than it really is. A "Session" is a series of clicks on a site by an individual visitor during a period of time. Sessions give a much more reliable picture of the popularity of a site. A Session is initiated when the visitor arrives at a site, and it ends when the browser is closed or there is a period of inactivity. In the average month, this site registers about 500 "Sessions" or "Visitors" per day. We think this is quite a large figure for a specialist site!

Where can I shoot?
|
The answer depends what you want to shoot and which country you live in. In general, there are shooting schools and shooting grounds where you can hire different types of gun for occasional shooting for yourself (and friends) or for corporate entertainment purposes. Many clubs offer this as well but only on certain days of the week; you\'ll find all these listed under \"Products & Services\". If you want to shoot regularly, join a club; you\'ll find airgun, shotgun, rifle and pistol clubs listed under \"Clubs\". Why not put your question on the Bulletin Board giving some details and your location so that somebody living near you can reply? You could also look up your nearest gun supplier and contact him, he will know all the answers.
